Mr. Ram Kumar Sunkara, P. R. Packing Services, Silvassa
|There is a lot of rush in recent times to set up automatic plants. Investments are going up from project to project. We have seen plants being set up at project cost from low Rs 4 corers to high Rs 150 corers. Considering the nature of this business is it financially viable to set up automatic plants with such high investment. In this presentation you can understand what is correct investment that needs to be done.|
|10.00 to 10.30 am|| Box Inspection System on Auto Folder Gluer
Mr. Andreas Schneiders, Technical Sales Manager, Baumer HHS GmbH, Germany
|Today's customers are using auto packing lines on their product filling lines. There are strict requirements on Gap Measurement, Slot Depth, Skewed Boxes, Fish Tailing. In auto folder gluers, running at speeds above 6500 boxes per hour, these defects are difficult to be detected and such boxes end up in the bundles which cause problems at customers end. We need to monitor such defects, identify them and remove them from bundles so that trouble free boxes reach customer. Today high speed case makers are in operation. More and more four colour printing jobs are being done. This requires precise print registration. On line mis-registration need to be identified and informed to operator. Box inspection will tell us how this can be done.|
|10.30 to 11.00 am|| Importance of FSC Certification (Forest Stewardship Council)

This has resulted in customers wanting all their vendors to be FSC certified. Off late customers are insisting on corrugators to be FSC certified. Such Certification creates stronger links between your business and your customer's business. Willenskraft enlightened us on how to go about getting FSC Certification.|
|11.00 to 11.30 am|| Reasons and Solutions for White Spots and Bad Odur in Kraft Paper
Mr. Madhukar Shinde, Solenis Chemicals India Pvt. Ltd.
|Due to the shortage of water, paper mills are under pressure to use less water. Integrated water management plans for paper mills include strategies to reduce water consumption by closure of water circuits to reuse water. Closure, however, directly and indirectly results in an increase in populations of microorganisms. The increased recycling of process water, nutrient salts and degradable carbon content increase, contributing to the microbiologically associated problems such as white spots and bad odor in paper. In last few months this problem have become very severe and many corrugators had their consignments rejected ending up with huge financial loss.In one of the panel discussions with paper mills, one of the panel member said this can not be solved and we have to live with it. Mr. Shinde will explain to us why this happens, what mills can do to stop this issue. When we are informed we can counter such arguments put up by mills.|
|11.30 to 12.00||TEA BREAK|
|18th November : SESSION - 3|
|12.30 to 1.00 pm|| Enhancing Drying Properties of Adhesives for Corrugated Board
Prof. N. Rajeswari, H.O.D, Department of Printing Technology., Anna University
|Adhesives play a fundamental role in performance of corrugated boxes, and adhesive failure can have catastrophic consequences. It is, therefore, valuable to understand the factors important for the production of a good durable adhesive bond. The additives are also used to enrich the properties. The objective of this presentation is to increase the drying speed of the starch adhesive by adding suitable additives and thereby increasing the production speed of corrugated board manufacturing. The other functional additives that could be incorporated in minor amounts for better drying speed are studied and selected. Their properties such as drying speed, strength, viscosity and pH are tested. The results from the tests are compared and the best additive for fast drying is selected.|
|1.00 to 2.00 pm||Panel Discussion :
Performance Requirement of Kraft Paper for New Markets in Emerging New India

|Emerging new India needs new generation Kraft paper. There is increasing movement from old performance parameters like GSM and B.S to new generation performance parameters like C.S, F.C.T, Bending stiffness. Boxes must now perform on high speed packing lines. It means performance parameters like Porosity of Paper, Tear Factor of Paper, Double Fold of Paper are increasingly becoming important. Users of corrugated boxes will tell us what changes they are envisaging in coming times for the Emerging Markets of New India. Are mills capable of delivering these requirement's. What are the current issues being faced and what is expectations of the box manufacturers from paper mills.|
